You might feel an ongoing sadness that remains in place despite positive elements in life. When someone is depressed, it is difficult to find joy, even in the things that used to make them happy. You may have difficulty sleeping, concentrating, using alcohol or other substances to cope, not eating or overeating, anger, irritability, or feeling like you’ve let yourself or others down.
You might feel “on edge,” non-stop worry, restlessness, irritability, sleeplessness, fear about the future, or overwhelmed. Anxiety might prevent you from taking part in certain aspects of your life. You might be experiencing panic attacks. You’ll likely feel stress and anxiety in your body, as well.
